We express our loving sympathy to the family of Brenda Joyce Banks. Brenda was a daughter of the late Alvin and Mary Jackson of the Farrall St. congregation. Her husband, Cardell Lee Banks, is minister for the Cedar St. Church in Wewoka. Brenda passed away in Oklahoma City on Wednesday of last week, and funeral services were conducted in our building on Monday morning by her husband and her son, Gerald Banks, who serves on the staff of a congregation in Broken Arrow.

Great progress was made in our recent VBS teachers meeting on Sunday afternoon. From our meeting, many wonderful ideas and thoughts were shared. And we are tremendously excited about this year's theme for Vacation Bible School, Bible Safari - "Where Kids Are Wild About God." During VBS these children will take a safari through God's Word to learn more about Him. We'll be studying some of the people and stories in the Bible that teach us about our relationship with God: Monday-Know God (Moses); Tuesday-Talk to God (Daniel); Wednesday-Stand Up For God (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego); Thursday-Obey God (Noah); Friday-Choose God (Ethiopian Eunuch). We will be conducting a five day VBS, July 11 - 15 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each morning here at the building for ages 2 thru 6^th grade. We continue to be in the process of planning many great activities for our children this summer during VBS. If you would like to be part of this year's VBS and haven't signed up to help in a specific area of work, please contact me and we'll get you plugged in. Our VBS coordinators will need workers and helpers involved in teaching, story telling, crafts, decorating, registration, puppets, games, and refreshments. I hope that you will be able to participate in this great local outreach effort. Your involvement is vital to the success of this VBS. So let's all work together to make this year's VBS a tremendous boost for the Lord's church here at Central.

Influence. Everyone has it; yet we seldom realize the implications of what it means. There are some today who would take the position, 'Well, I don't want to influence you to....." My question is: "Why Not?" Should we not desire to influence others to do what is good, righteous, and true? When Jesus said you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14) he was discussing the influence for good that a person should have for Him. (See Mt. 5:16) The fact of the matter is that we all influence others either in a positive or negative way. Salt functions in a way to influence the taste of food. Light functions in such a way as to dispel darkness and give direction so people may see where they are going. In the same way, we as followers of Christ need to take seriously the way He calls us to walk and the path we have chosen to follow. Our influence should cause others to seek beyond this world for the true significance and meaning of life and help others conform their life to be like Christ. What happened to January and February? Where did they go? Never mind, here is a slogan for all of us for the rest of the year: "Come Alive in Zero-Five!"

To do the latter, they need to remember there are three basic classes of people:

(1) Those who make things happen

(2) Those who watch things happen, and

(3) Those who do not know what is happening!

Certainly, the successful SABC students, the real achievers, are those who take control of their studies and make things work out for a future life in the service of the Lord.

Incidentally, you and our other contributors fall into that first category above.....you "make things happen" at the Bible College. So special thanks come your way for contributions which have arrived, and will be put toward the daily operation of the school. Bless you for blessing us!

Congratulations to Wade Baskin. Wade was one of only three boys to make straight A's for the third quarter in the fifth grade class. Sean Parman ran well in a track meet in Midwest City last week. Sean beat all his personal times. Molly Gettle is running track this year for North Rock Creek. Molly is running the 300 meter hurdles. The great thing about all of our kids at Central is that what- ever they do, they let people see who is first in their lives, Christ.

We have a change in the April Calendars. We will go to the Shawnee soccer game on Tuesday the 12^th instead of Thursday the 14^th. Sorry about the mix up.

We should be receiving our camp registrations soon. Make plans now to be a part of this incredible week. It's June 12-18 at Burnt Cabin. If you haven't gone before, you've got to give it a chance. The week is filled with Bible study, worship, fellowship and fun. Just ask anyone who's been to Burnt Cabin, they'll tell you how awesome it is.
