AMONG FRIENDS
with Robert Prater
Our Warmth from the Heart coat giveaway last Saturday was once again a great success. It was so exciting to see about 50 people lined up nearly to the street twenty minutes before we were scheduled to begin. And we had a constant overflow of people waiting in the auditorium the first hour and a half. We were able to help 80 families for a total of 298 people. We also distributed a great deal of caps, gloves, and other articles of clothing. We had the opportunity to give out a good number of New Testaments, tracts, and other Bible literature. There were several families who expressed a desire to visit our services. There were individuals who requested to receive Bible correspondence courses and some interested in studying the Bible with us. We also had the opportunity to encourage and pray with several others who are struggling with personal problems in life. May God be glorified in all of this! We are so grateful for every member here at Central who works to help make this such a wonderful outreach ministry to this community. There is still much follow-up work to be done. Please keep all of this in your prayers.
We now are focusing our attention to our next coat giveaway on Saturday, December 3. Due to the tremendous success of this day, much of our supplies have been completely depleted. (Especially children coat sizes 6-12 and adult large-3X sizes) So, once again, we need donations to help us re-stock our supplies of coats, caps, gloves, etc. I'm confident that you will rise to the occasion and meet this challenge. Thank you for all that you have done and will continue to do in the future. You are a wonderful people who truly embrace the command to love your neighbor.
Friends, we never want to lose sight of our focus in this outreach ministry. We hope that by meeting the physical needs of those less fortunate in our community that we have opportunities to meet spiritual needs as well. Our ultimate goal is to introduce people to Christ and His church by first demonstrating the love of Christ to them during their time of need. Remember, as Christians we have been "saved to serve." (Eph. 2:10) It is our purpose in life to bring glory to Christ by serving the One who gave His life for us. One of the best ways we serve the Lord is to bring the lost to Him! Friends, I am so happy that I am a member of such a caring spiritual family.

Youth News
Bob Stephens
We had a great turn out for the first coat giveaway Saturday. I know more will be said about it, but I would like to brag on a "former" youth group member. Tim Norton was there Saturday, the whole time and then some, working hard at whatever task he was asked to do. Tim is a great example of being a servant for Christ. Thanks Tim for the great example!
This Saturday night, October 29, the teens are hosting a Halloween party for the younger ones of the congregation in the basement. The party will consist of games, face painting, decorating and of course, trick or treating. The party begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Put on your best costume and bring a bag for all the treats you'll collect.
The teens will be decorating and preparing for the party from 3:00 til 5:00 Saturday, with dinner being provided. Then after the party and subsequent clean-up, the teens will go to the Bricktown Haunted House in OKC. The cost for the haunted house is $10.00. We should be back home before midnight. If you have any questions about the party contact me or Janet.
