AMONG FRIENDS
with Robert Prater
I am so excited about our upcoming Friends & Family Day on Sunday, April 15. This special day is an opportunity to introduce the gospel and the Lord's church here at Central to those whom we know and love. I hope every member will take advantage of this special opportunity to invite your non-Christian neighbors and co-workers and your closest friends and family members to come worship with you and to hear a wonderful message about Christ in a clear and loving way.
To reach our attendance goal we have set of 301, everyone is going to have to do their part inviting and bringing guests. I want to especially challenge you first of all to make your plans now to be present on this special day. (Cancel, rearrange, reschedule any plans, trips, etc. you have in order to be here) Secondly, please remember to take and fill out one of the "Count on Me" cards of how you can help ensure that this day will be a great success. On the back of this commitment card you can make a list of the people you plan to invite. Please try to turn these cards back in as soon as possible. You can return them to either your Sunday morning Bible class teacher or there is a tray on the table in the foyer.
Friends, there is no better way to make a difference in our community than by sharing the gospel with the people we know. Sometimes we can make evangelism entirely more difficult than it really should be. Evangelism can be a simple invitation to come to worship. We need to be willing just to go to friends, family and neighbors and say, "Come!" (Jn. 1:43-36) Friends and Family Day is a special opportunity to help remind us of our constant need to reach out to those who need the Lord. A special focus often gives us encouragement to do regularly what we are doing for this special day. I hope Friends and Family Day will help us to remember what is most important - loving God and loving people.
Finally, please keep this special effort in your prayers. Pray for our guest speaker Bruce McLarty. Pray for the friends that you are going to invite. I am personally praying that God will be glorified through this effort and that souls will be saved.

Formula for Success
Meeting our Goal of 301
on Friends & Family Day
If 200 members invite 5 people each=1000 people
If 20% (1 out of 5) of the 1000 asked attend=200
Which also means that if half is obtained--
we still make our goal on that day!
Hopefully this helps us better understand in practical terms how to reach our goal

A LETTER FROM MACK LYON
Dear Central Church in Shawnee, OK,
I have been reading with interest of your 100th anniversary year, and the special day you have for marking it. Central has been a good church for that long. You have had good leadership and good preaching. I congratulate you and I hope to attend the special event you will have come that special Sunday, whenever it is.
These are trying days for the church. Many are departing from the faith. Others are dying. I pray God's best upon Central in the coming decade. Be thou faithful to the end,
May God bless each of you, Mack Lyon

HOMECOMING INVITATION LIST
We are compiling a list of former members and friends to receive an invitation for our Centennial Homecoming on September 29 and 30. An invitation from you personally would be the most appealing in many instances, but we will also send invitations from the church to those for whom we have names and addresses. Please be thinking about this and turn the information in to the church office as soon as possible.
CENTENNIAL MOMENTS
We have had many good elders: Jack Ewton, Floyd Perry, Wylie Cox, and N.S. Burk are among those who performed faithful service giving of their time, talent, and money. All are, of course, deceased. And there are many more.
