Bulletin for Sunday 09/07/2003

CENTRAL MOURNS LOSS OF

DON SULLIVAN

We express our loving, heartfelt sympathy to Lil, the Sullivan children, grandchildren, and the entire congregation at Central in the loss of Don after a long illness in Minot, North Dakota on Thursday, August 21. Funeral services were conducted this past Saturday morning in Minot. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday morning at Hillsdale, Kansas, and memorial services were conducted here at Central on Wednesday morning.

Don had previously preached in Minot from 1964 to 1977. After working with the East Main and Central congregations in Shawnee from 1990 to 2002, Central assisted in his support after he returned to Minot. He had also preached in Yorba Linda and Beaumont, California. He was an instructor in the Southern California School of Evangelism in Buena Park and then served as the academic dean. He and Lil also spent two years in mission work in Germany.

At Central, Don was highly regarded for his vast Bible knowledge and his outstanding ability to teach and preach. The family has suggested that any memorial contributions should go to the Southern California School of Evangelism in Buena Park or the Children’s Home of Lubbock in Lubbock, Texas.

OUR GOSPEL MEETING
Be keeping the dates of September 14 – 17 in your mind as a time of special opportunity. Brother Ted Kell will be with us at that time. The theme of the meeting and sermon topics for all services may be found in "Looking Ahead." Keep in mind that all teen and adult classes will be meeting together on the 14th, and there will also be a potluck dinner for the entire congregation following the Sunday morning service that day.

SYMPATHY
We extend our sympathy to all the family of Opal Neal, former member at Central for a number of years. Funeral services were conducted in the Walker Funeral Service Chapel on Friday with Robert Perry conducting the service.
