SERMONS

OUR GOSPEL MEETING

BEGINS SUNDAY

Brother Ted Kell is the son of Frank and Joyce Kell and is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1950 and from David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee with his BA degree in 1954.

He married Evelyn Cole in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1954. Their children are Steve, Mark (deceased, 1988), Karla Hale, Jina Hinson, and Shawn. The Kells have seven grandchildren.

Brother Kell began preaching in 1950. He has done local ministry in Machester, Tennessee (1953-58); Janesville, Wisconsin mission work (1958-70), helping establish several new churches in the state. He was an instructor at the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas (1970-83), helping to train 1,000 evangelists and missionaries. He then preached for the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood, Texas (1983-98). Since that time he has done full-time evangelistic work.

He was police chaplain in Brownwood 1988-98). He has done extensive gospel preaching on radio and television. His evangelistic work has gone into 30+ states and the countries of Chile, England, Mexico, Scotland, Philippines, Korea, and Thailand.

Brother Kell was greatly appreciated by members at Central for the outstanding preaching he did in our meeting in April, 2001 and was invited to return at this time.

The theme of this year's meeting is "Christ's Glory in His Church" during the Sunday and other evening services. The 10 o'clock services Monday through Wednesday will be on the theme "Transformed Into Christ's Image." Brother Kell sends his greeting to you in the Lord. We anticipate his arrival with great joy.

COMBINED BIBLE CLASSES

All the teen and adult classes will meet in the auditorium Sunday morning at 9:30 to hear brother Kell's lesson, "Remembering Christ's Glory."

FELLOWSHIP MEAL

After Sunday's morning worship service we will have a potluck meal together in the fellowship room. Please plan to come bringing enough food for your family and to accommodate the visitors in our midst. This will be a good opportunity for you to get to know brother Kell better and to personally welcome him back to Central. Be planning to attend every service and to bring others with you.

REQUESTING PRAYER

We rejoiced with Geoffrey and Hazel Lee Behrnes when Geoffrey responded to the invitation Sunday morning requesting to be restored to his Lord and to be considered a member at Central. We commend Geoffrey on this wonderful decision. Do all that you can in prayer and deeds of kindness to help him remain true to his commitment.

SYMPATHY

We extend our loving sympathy to Mazella Patterson in the loss of her sister, Betty (B.J.) Holman who experienced a brain aneurysm in her home and later passed away at Mercy Health Center last week. Funeral services are to be conducted by Bob Anderson and Dwyane Dennis at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh on Thursday morning at 10 this week. Interment will be in Colleyville, Texas. Betty was a member at Highland in Tecumseh and a frequent visitor here at Central.

THANK YOU
Thank you for the beautiful floral arrangement, kind words, thoughts, and prayers during Mom's illness. Your love and support got us through many difficult days. Diane Moore & the family of Georgia Passons

I thank our Father in heaven for being with me and my surgeon during my knee surgery in early August. Thanks to my brothers and sisters in Christ for all acts of kindness, of prayers, visits, cards, calls, and concern. How lucky I am to be well on the road to recovery and be blessed by a wonderful church family. Thank you.
In Christian love, Margaret Hanifan
How wonderful it is to be a member at Central and to know the warmth of your love, kindness, and fellowship. For all who were at the hospital during the surgery, other visits, calls, food, and the constant attention of our minister (he made me say that), we are truly grateful. Your Christian compassion has been a tremendous blessing to us. We love you, Dwyane and Marcia Dennis.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Vivian Cross had exploratory surgery at Integris Baptist Medical Center this past Friday morning and returned home that same day. It is believed that the sources of health concerns have been found and corrected.
Harvey and Carletta Moore are at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston this week. They have written the following note: "Dear brothers & sisters in Christ, We want to thank you for all your prayers and concern. We ask that you continue to remember us in your prayers as we travel to Houston, and be with the doctors as they do the testing on Harvey and he will receive a good report. Harvey's testing will be on Wednesday, September 10 and we will see the doctor on Thursday, September 11. We will be at this number for the next couple of weeks 281-255-2576. We love each of you. You are dear to our hearts. With Christian love, Harvey and Carletta Moore."
C.F. Drain's surgery for blockage in a carotid artery has been postponed to Thursday of this week at Unity North due to a cold he had last week. We enjoyed seeing Margaret Hanifan and Jearline Bates in our worship this past Sunday morning.

YOUTH NEWS

Bob Stephens

We have three Central teens in the spotlight this week. Courtney Baskin competed in a cross-country meet for Shawnee Middle School this past Saturday and finished seventh place out of 40. Great job Courtney!
Also the Nipper boys are showing cattle and driving tractors! Chris Nipper won first place in the tractor operating contest in Tecumseh and the Pott. County Fair. He will be going to Tulsa in a few weeks for state competition. Chris also placed second at the Pott. County Fair showing his heifer.
Tanner Nipper, not to be out done by big brother, took first place for showing his heifer and an award for reserve breed at the county fair. Good job fellas!

Thanks go out to Bob and Jason Perry and Matt and Andy Stephens for mowing the lawns at the Youth House and Outreach Center last Saturday.
