BROTHER DON

(Written in honor of Don Sullivan, 1936-2003, by Gerald (Snuffy) Smith)

I've made a lot of friends while playing this
difficult life's game.

But none will ever crowd you out or go to the top
of your name.

I make friends most every day; they're not that
hard to find.

But Don, God bless you. You are a very
special friend of mine.

We both enjoy fishing. Sometimes we even
caught a few.

I wish we had more time for the things we
wanted to do.

Western suits and cowboy boots are what we
like to wear.

Mountain men and Western books are our
reading fare.

I think God had a hand in letting us find each
other

and to let us share a part of our lives like a
friend and brother.

I know you have a sickness that's really hard
to take

and just the thought of losing you, just makes
my sad heart break.

But you are going to be okay, this comforting
fact I know.

Cause God has you in His arms and He's not
about to let you go.

And when you enter through Heaven's gates,
and we know that's where you'll be,

While looking at Jesus face-to-face, put in a
good word for me.

I love you Don, Snuffy

MY MORNING PRAYER

Thank you dear Lord for another day,

Help me to be thoughtful in every way.

Help me also to bridle my tongue.

Keep my thoughts forever young.

Help me to do the best I can

To assist and serve my fellow man.

Keep me honest - and not self seek,

Lest I should revel in conceit.

And when this life has run its course,

Let me lie down without remorse.

But come before thee with clean hands,

Feeling I've done the best I can.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.
