AMONG FRIENDS

with Robert Prater

It’s time once again for the Central congregation to provide warm coats to help the needy throughout the coming winter months with our Warmth from the Heart on Saturday, November 10.  Ron and Debbie Taffe always do a tremendous job organizing and planning this special outreach effort.  And there are opportunities for every member of the congregation to actively participate in this ministry.  It’s still not too late to volunteer in helping work on the actual Saturday morning giveaway or you can make donations of coats, caps and gloves.  If you prefer, you can simply give money to Ron or Debbie which will be used to buy items needed.

Jesus summed up His life’s mission in Mark 10:45 when he said, the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”  We are never more like Jesus than when we serve and give to others.  In commending those who helped others, Jesus said, “I needed clothes and you clothed me…..” (Matthew 25:36) NIV)  Paul wrote, “Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Gal. 6:10)  God calls upon the members of His church to serve Him with their individual gifts and abilities.  Of course in all of this, our goal is to show the love of Jesus to others and help them on their journey in life to find the salvation Christ offers them.  So let’s all pray that God will open doors for the Word to be heard and welcomed by the people of our community. (Col. 4:2-4)

Finally, we continue to have local visitors coming through our doors.  Please help them feel “at home” and wanted.  For many coming to a new church raises many questions.  Your kindness and open hearts will help people to feel welcome and wanted.  --Robert--(robprater@sbcglobal.net)

THANK YOU

Our thanks to Jim Cross on installing a hand rail going up on the podium.

Dear family in Christ, for the many cards, with personal notes of appreciation for my monthly letter, and phone calls, I can’t possibly get around to each of you personally, but I thank you for remembering my birthday.  With your good wishes and prayers, my letters will continue as long as I can keep my right senses.  Thanks again.  I am blessed with your friendship and love.
