MEMBERSHIP

After being away to help the brethren at Bell & Farrall for a period of time, Bob Neal is now back worshiping at Central and is resuming his membership here.  Bob lives at 10 Hurford Ave., Shawnee, OK 74801.  His phone number is 273-3217.  We’re happy to have Bob back at Central.

AMONG FRIENDS

with Robert Prater

It’s hard to believe but our annual Vacation Bible School program is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 14 and run through Friday, July 18.  Activities will start each day at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m.  We will also once again have a special concluding Friday Night Open House program at 7:00 p.m.

The theme for this year’s VBS is Fun with the Son.  Children from age three through the fifth grade will be studying and learning about the amazing Son of God.  Each day they will be looking at an exciting Bible story from the Gospels that teach us about the wonderful light of Jesus Christ.  Children will experience a “class rotation system” that leads them on a great adventure through a dramatic telling of each day’s Bible story in the auditorium, along with other learning stations which will include application and story rooms, crafts, refreshments, games, plus lots of singing, and of course puppets!

Soon many of the building’s classrooms, hallways, fellowship room and even the stage in the auditorium will be transformed into fun-filled beach theme decorations and exciting Bible scenes of the past.  There are plenty of opportunities for you to personally be involved.  Don’t just sit back and watch others do the work or wait to be asked.  Volunteers are always greatly welcomed!  I am always so grateful for the many, many people here at Central who participate to make this such a great work.

We’ll soon have available both VBS invitational postcards to mail out and enrollment forms to fill out.  Friends, VBS is a great opportunity to reach out to your non-religious friends and neighbors.  Please continue to pray and work towards making this year’s VBS a tremendous success.

INVITATION

The ladies are invited to a bridal shower honoring Jennifer Doerksen, bride-elect of Tad McGalliard, on Saturday, July 26, 2 to 4 p.m. in the fellowship room.  They are registered at Dillard’s, WalMart, and Target.  To participate in a group gift, see Vivian Cross, Marcia Dennis, or Rita Romberg.  Please note that this is a Saturday shower.

THANK YOU

Dear brothers & sisters in Christ, Thank you so much for your cards, visits, thoughts, and prayers during the past several months in the illness and passing of my grandfather, Bob Gear.  Your care and concern is greatly appreciated during this difficult time.     In Christian Love, Robby & Kacy

Kinsey and the Bob Gear Family

Thank you so much for the many cards, visits, food and prayers on my behalf while I am recuperating from knee replacement surgery.

                                  In Christian love, Sue Merritt

We thank our lovely sisters for the beautiful shower given to Kevin and Sarah.  The gifts were wonderful, but the outpouring of true affection and love were evidence of the living Christ in you all, which prompted Sarah’s mother to comment many times about how welcomed and comfortable she felt,  and how loving and close the congregation seemed.  We know exactly how she feels and are blessed to have each of you as our brothers and sisters.

                                                Ron & Debbie Taffe

PRAYER CONCERNS

We are not aware of any Central members in the hospital

Frank Burton was scheduled to have outpatient knee surgery at Bone & Joint Hospital on Tuesday of this week.

Melrose Kotts may now have visitors after 4 p.m. for no longer than 20 minutes.  She is in the Unity Health Center rehabilitation unit on the third floor of the south campus.

It was good to see Sue Merritt back in worship Sunday for the first time since her knee replacement surgery.

Juanita Combs, Harvey Moore, Tim Norton, Sr., Frances Taylor, and Donna (Wills) Hale all continue to need and request your prayers.
