Bulletin for Sunday 04/26/2009
You know the busy summer season is approaching when you start to hear talk about church camp and VBS! First, concerning our
program, please mark now the dates for our VBS this summer of July 13-17. Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. each morning here at the building for ages 3 thru 5th Grade. This year’s theme will be: Wanted by God. Jesus said, “……….Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Vacation Bible School belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14 NIV) In this VBS, the children will be learning each day about different Bible characters and stories where God called and wanted them to obey Him and do the right things even in difficult situations. kingdomof God
Monday: Elisha (Wanted for Kindness by God)
Tuesday: Gideon (Wanted to Trust God)
Wednesday: Jonah (Wanted to Share God)
Thursday: Mary (Wanted to be God’s Servant)
Friday: Jesus Blesses the Children (Jesus Wants You)
This should furnish us some straight shootin’ Bible Lessons! Our little “deputy sheriff” kids should have a rootin’ tootin’ good time with this western VBS theme. The children will once again enjoy the VBS experience as they travel through a dramatic telling of each day’s Bible story, application and story rooms, crafts, refreshments, games, plus lots of singing, and you know puppets! We have VBS coordinators who will need workers involved in each of these areas. There are handouts concerning all this on the table in the foyer. Please be thinking about how you may be able to serve and help make Central’s 2009 VBS another tremendous program. If you have any further questions, you can see me or Maggie.
Now, let’s talk church camp. Central’s session at Burnt Cabin is now less than seven weeks away! June 7-13 is the date for our camp week. Please pick up a camp application in the foyer, youth house, youth bulletin board, or you can download a copy from: www.burntcabinyouthcamp.com Or call our church office and we will mail you a copy. Camp is for all young people from the 3rd through the 12th grades (ages 9-18).
This year’s theme is The
Belongs to the Lord! We are going to be looking at some of the battle stories from the book of Joshua and Judges when the people of Battle Israeltook the and how truly the battle belongs to the Lord if we have right kind of faith and trust in Him. We need to get into the mindset that we are all involved in a spiritual war, and to learn how to stand our ground and fight the good fight of faith. There can be no neutrality. We must all choose to be on God’s side and actively fight in His battle while we live this life behind ‘enemy lines.’ Promise Land
So please encourage your children grandchildren, and their friends to attend. Camp is a tremendous life impacting experience and influence on our young people. I ask for you all to keep both of these great works in your prayers this summer.
1937 EVA CLYDEAN DECKER 2009
We were saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of Clydean Decker on Wednesday morning of last week. A memorial service was conducted in our building the following day. Clydean sincerely believed there would someday be a better life than the one she experienced here when she would be with the Lord and her son that was lost when he was only six months old. We know that Harold will be lonely without Clydean, and we extend to him our deepest sympathy.
We also extend our sympathy to Paul Harris in the loss of his brother-in-law, Don Cosgrove who passed away on Thursday of last week in
. Funeral services were on Monday at Mercer Adams Funeral Home in Oklahoma City . Bethany
We wish to congratulate Jim Walling on his retirement from coaching at
. Walling served as head basketball coach for Earlsboro during the past 26 years, where he led the Wildcats to a state championship in 1993. Jim has been a wonderful influence and example for the community and the Lord’s church during his coaching career. We are so thankful for dedicated Christian coaches and mentors that help shape and impact young lives for God. Thank you Jim! Earlsboro High School
