Bulletin for Sunday 8/30/2009
The Central congregation has been richly blessed in having Matthew and Jill Sloan with us and working with our young people this summer. Matt has been serving as our youth intern this summer gaining practical experience. He and Jill have been working alongside Bob and Janet Stephens serving the teens in such an encouraging way to so many. Matt is a junior at OC this fall and continues his studies in Bible and Ministry. I have also been blessed to have worked some closely with Matt this summer and have been impressed with this young man and feel confident that he has a great future in ministry. I am also greatly excited and thankful that our elders have decided to have Matt continue on this fall as Central’s part time youth intern. Matt will be preaching this coming Sunday morning. Your presence and support will be an encouragement to him.
Many here at Central may not be aware of this, but I will soon have the opportunity to participate in a mission trip to
. The dates for the trip are October 12-22. The campaign will be centered around a seminar located in the city of Ukraine Kramatorsk, a . The lessons in the seminar will be from the Gospel of John. I will have the opportunity to teach four classes during the seminar. Additionally we will have the opportunity to preach and/or teach classes in our visits to other congregations in Artemovsk and Konstantinovka. These congregations were planted 10 years ago on a mission trip by the provinceof Donetsk South Collegecongregation in . These days will be spent addressing any needs and providing any help we can for these churches. Tahlequah, OK
The trip will be led by David Deffenbaugh (preacher at
, Tahlequah). Other ministers on the team include Richard Chambers (preacher in South College Sallisaw, OK), and Don Deffenbaugh (long time gospel preacher and brotherhood writer from ). Neosho, MO
THANK YOU – I want to say how deeply thankful I am first of all to the Central elders for allowing me to be away during this time and for the support they have given me. Secondly I am so incredibly thankful and have been overwhelmed by all those members who helped contribute toward this campaign trip. Because of your tremendous generosity I have been able to raise more than enough of my support money! This is just another reason why I greatly love my Central family. May God richly bless you all.

WHAT A JOY
It has been such a wonderful summer spent here with the family at Central Church of Christ in
. I have learned so much being here as an intern for the youth. Bob and Janet Stephens have been such a wonderful pair to work under and to learn from. Robert and Maggie Prater have also been great to work with and having their support. Many in this congregation have supported Jill and I in many ways and are grateful for that support. We are so thrilled to have met many of you from the congregation and hope to continue that in the fall. We met with a few of the elders Sunday afternoon and they have decided to continue the relationship we have had this summer into the fall semester as a part time intern. I am so thrilled to know that you all like us so much that you want to keep this going! Jill and I also are beginning to feel right at home here at Central. You are all such nice caring individuals that it’s hard to get out the door some evenings when worship is over and the fellowship begins. What a great dilemma! This summer we have had the chance to work a little beside the kids and get to know them. I think this group has great potential and can’t wait to see them grow in the Lord. We look forward to also seeing them in their after school activities this fall and wish them good luck in their studies this school year. I pray that Jill and I have been a good asset to the church here as the church has been in our lives. We thank you and love you all and hope that we can continue in our work for the Lord here in this family at Central. Shawnee
