AMONG FRIENDS
With Robert Prater

Please be keeping in mind Sunday, April 11, the date for our special Friends & Family Day here at Central.  This is always one of our biggest and most successful outreach events.  To the best of your ability, please plan to be here in attendance on this day.  We now have invitation postcards printed to make it easy to invite others.  Mail out and give away as many as you need!

In recent years Church Growth studies have clearly shown that one of the primary reasons that many people don’t attend worship is that no one has ever invited them!  There are many people who would make great strides in their spiritual journey if someone would take the time and concern to personally share their faith and invite them to worship.

Many Christians don’t feel confident about sharing the gospel personally with someone, yet all Christians should be eager to strategically invite others to a worship service or outreach event with them to hear the gospel proclaimed.  We need every member of the Central congregation to be excited about what God is doing in this church family and in their own personal life.  We all know at least one individual or family not currently attending worship.  Friends & Family Sunday gives us all extra motivation and an appropriate occasion to invite them.

Now before we ever attempt to share the gospel with others, we should first devote ourselves to prayer asking God for opportunities and that we will respond to these opportunities.  The apostle Paul said, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.  And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.” (Colossians 4:2-3 NIV)

The most common reason Christians don’t respond to God-given opportunities is that we’re afraid that we won’t know what to say.  We’re afraid we’ll either say the wrong thing, or not say the right thing.  We’re in good company.  Paul was afraid of this also.  Paul knew that for him to be effective in reaching out with the gospel, he needed the help of God.

Let’s all continue to look for the great opportunities God gives us to influence others for His Son; and when He does, may we respond to those “open doors” by speaking for Jesus.

EGG HUNT & FELLOWSHIP

There will be an egg hunt and fellowship for all families with children and teens on Sunday, April 4, immediately following the evening services at the home of the Canard’s.  In case of rainout, we’ll just stay at the building.

Earl Finch is now home.

Frank Burton will have total knee replacement at Northwest Surgical Center, May & Britton on Friday morning of this week.

Gene Norton has been ill at home for the last couple of weeks.

It was so good to have Ruth Guin back in our worship Sunday after a time of not feeling well.

THANK YOU

To The Sunshine Sisters:

On behalf of my nephew Brandon Burchette:  He received his package and wanted me to relay a thank you message to all of you that contributed.  He has been feeling a little down lately and I think that this really lifted his spirits.  Please continue to pray for him and his safe return to us as I know that you will.  We love and appreciate all that you do for others.  God Bless. Kelly (Cross) Ward

Youth News
Bob Stephens

This Sunday evening after worship everyone will have an opportunity to see some of our LTC kids in action.  The plan is to give the 3-6 graders a chance to go through a “rehearsal” before the convention.  Please come and encourage them as they strive to serve the Lord.

Wednesday night, the 31st, all those going to the LTC Convention need to meet one last time before we go.  We will pass out schedules, room assignments and maps, stuff like that.  If you are planning to go to Rogers on April 2 & 3 you really need to be at this meeting!
