Bulletin for Sunday 01/02/2011
With Robert Prater
Please be making plans to attend Praise Him 2011 – Shawnee Area Wide Worship service which will take place this coming Sunday evening, January 2 at 5 p.m. at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center (Shawnee fairgrounds, off US Hwy 177). This is going to be a great opportunity to build stronger connections with fellow Christians from area congregations.
“This year of reading and study has really been a great learning experience and a wonderful blessing in my life.” This is the kind of reactions I have heard from several Central members reflecting upon our yearlong study called Route 66 – A road trip through the Bible. My prayer is that our study through the entire Bible this year has had (and will have) a great impact on this congregation as we grow in knowledge of God’s Word. And even more than that, my heart’s desire is that we would put what God’s Word says into practice in our everyday life. I hope that we also would be proactive in telling others about His love for them and His desire to start a relationship with them.
While our organized yearlong study through the Bible will end this coming Sunday, please, please, don’t let your faithful study of God’s Word fall by the wayside. We always place in the first of each month’s bulletin a Daily Bible Reading Schedule for you to follow. You might also want to use once again The Daily Bible, edited by F. LaGard Smith. This Bible takes the NIV text, and organizes it in chronological order with daily readings. We based our Route 66 study this year on brother Smith’s reading plan.
One person has estimated how long it would take to read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. If you were to read out loud at a pace easy to understand, you could read the Bible in 78 hours. Divide that over the course of a year and you find that you could read the Bible in 365 days by reading 12 minutes per day. Let’s all purpose to daily spend time in the word of God in 2011.
Hope to see you here Sunday!
