With Robert Prater

This coming Sunday evening we will be honoring this year’s “Class of 2011 of the Central Church of Christ.”  Our high school seniors are made up of Chad Beard, Brandon Gober and Keon Lawrence.  At the close of worship, we will be presenting each graduating senior with a new Bible.  We encourage everyone to come and show your loving support for our seniors as we celebrate their accomplishments following services with a senior reception and slideshow in the fellowship room.  This is a time for you to visit with them, give them a graduation gift and wish them well in the future.

For these young people who are high school seniors and about to graduate, this is a very exciting time.  It is a time of meeting goals and moving on to new challenges.  It is a time of possibility and excitement about the future.  But it is also a time of important decisions – decisions about what to do and where to do it; decisions about what path to take in life and who to make that journey with.  And most importantly, they, just like all of us, will be faced with the decision of what to do about their relationship with God.

The Book of Proverbs is largely written in the format of a father giving advice to his son – advice for a good, prosperous and godly life.  That advice continues to be profitable for young people of any generation.  In Proverbs 3:5-6, Solomon writes: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”  What better words of advice can there be for someone who is on the verge of leaving the safe shelter of their parents’ care and going out into the world?

So to Chad, Brandon and Keon: Congratulations on your accomplishments.  My prayer for you is that you will be safe and successful wherever your paths lead you.  But more importantly, I pray that you will never forget God and will always hold your relationship with Him to be the most important and precious treasure that you possess.  May God bless you and all of us.

A very big Thank You! to everyone who helped me celebrate my 90th Birthday.  Words cannot express how thankful I am to have a loving Christian family like you.  I will always remember the kindness and love you have shown through your sweet words of congratulations, good wishes, encouragement, cards, gifts and flowers.  You made my birthday, Friday the 13th a very special day.  Lots of Love,                     Geraldine Outlaw

A Thought in Mind

Life is beautiful,

Life is like a bird that lights

on your windowsill.

You see it,

And when you look back

 it has disappeared.

Flowers are for the living.

Give to those who can see their beauty,

And smell their fragrance while they live.

We have beauty in each of us,

If only we show it to someone else.

Take time to smell the flowers

As we pass through this life.

We live one day at a time,

For tomorrow may never be ours.

If in this life we leave a mark let it be

love for one another,

So it will linger like the fragrance

from a flower,

Long after we are gone.
