Bulletin for Sunday 02/26/2012
With Robert Prater
This past Sunday evening we were blessed to have Sam & Joyce Yaws, the caretakers of Burnt Cabin Christian Camp (which is overseen by the South College Church of Christ in Tahlequah). Sam spoke and gave us a great special report on the current work and exciting future plans for the camp. The Central congregation has been involved with this camp and work for many years and I’ve been blessed to be able to serve as one of the camp directors for our session the past seven years.
Each summer this camp has a powerful lifelong influence on the spiritual lives of hundreds of children. Year after year the Gospel is preached and the church of the future is born not of flesh and blood but of the Spirit of God. These young people come back home on “fire” for the Lord and in His service in the kingdom.
During Sam’s lesson he showed us the 8 minute video about Burnt Cabin’s 2.7 million fundraiser. 1.7 million will pay for the construction and furnishing of a 160 bed lodge and a cafeteria that will seat 450 people. It will also be used for worship times, Bible classes, and sports with drop-down basketball goals. $1 million of the $2.7 million will go into an endowment fund to reduce the cost of attending camp by as much as half! The camp can pay cash for the project if 3,333 families or individuals contribute an average of $270 a year for only three years or $22.50 per month.
I would encourage everyone to go online www.burntcabinyouthcamp.com and watch this camp video and then prayfully consider making a commitment of any size to the future of Burnt Cabin.
Go ahead and mark now Central’s session at Burnt Cabin, June 10-16. Camp is for all young people from the 3rd through the 12th grade. This year’s theme will be R-U-N (are you in to win?). This will be based on 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 and we’ll be using the Summer Olympics analogy to discuss the Christian race that is set before us. We’ll be studying the remarkable life of the apostle Paul and how he ran his Christian race for Jesus. It should be a great spiritual message with a fun theme for the kids to get into!
There will be a LTC parents’ meeting immediately after worship this coming Sunday morning, February 26. We will discuss certain logistics for the upcoming convention, which is only six weeks away. It is important that all parents with children involved with LTC be at this meeting. We will meet in the classroom across the hall from the library. The meeting should last less than 30 minutes.
Thank you to your entire congregation for your prayers, visits, the great delicious meal, the floral arrangement and the beautiful service.
The (Fred) Bowers Family
Sonshine Sisters, Thank you! for the beautiful white carnations and the delicious loaf cake. It was so kind of you, Sincerely, Lola [Mullinax]
To the best of our knowledge we have no Central member in the hospital at the present time. It was good to have Gene & Dorothy Norton in services Sunday morning. It was a wonderful surprise having Trey Canard back home and in services Sunday evening.

I want to thank Lettie, Brooklyn, Michaela, Eric, and Kyle for helping serve at the Leadership Dinner. I know there were other things you could have been doing on a Friday and appreciate you taking the time to help out. I’ve gotten many compliments on your help. So thank you!
Also, I’d like to welcome Trey Canard back. I know we all wish that his injury didn’t befall on him, and I know this is a little bit selfishness, but we are really glad to have him back with us. He has been greatly missed.
