1926          JUANITA COMBS          2012

We express our loving sympathy to Glendon and the rest of the family in the loss of Juanita on Wednesday, May 9, after a long battle fighting cancer.  She was a loving and devoted Christian woman, wife and friend.  She will be deeply missed.

AMONG FRIENDS
With Robert Prater

It’s hard to believe but our camp session at Burnt Cabin is now less than four weeks away.  June 10-16 is the date of our camp week.  Please pick up a camp application in the foyer, youth bulletin board or you can go online and download a copy from: www.burntcabinyouthcamp.com.  Camp is for all young people 3rd through 12 grades.  Please turn in your camp applications as quickly as possible.  If you would like to sponsor a child for camp please let me or the church office know.

I’m excited about this year’s theme of R-U-N (are you in to win?)  We’ll be using the Olympics analogy to discuss the Christian race that is set before us. (cf. 1 Cor. 9:24-27)  We’ll be studying from the life of the apostle Paul and his Christian race he ran and the application from other New Testament passages.  Please encourage your children, grandchildren, and their friends to attend.  A week at summer church camp can have a powerful lifelong influence on the spiritual lives of our children.

Now it’s even harder to believe that it’s time for high school graduations – but it is!  This coming Sunday evening we will honor this year’s “Class of 2012” of the Central Church of Christ.  This year we have just one senior, Wade Baskin.  We are very proud of Wade and the fine Christian young man he has become.

At the close of worship, we will be presenting him a new Bible.  Immediately after worship, there will be a Senior Reception in the fellowship room.  This is a time for you to visit with him, give a graduation gift and wish him well in the future. Congratulation Wade on your accomplishments!  We pray you will be safe and successful where ever your paths lead you.  Most importantly, we pray that you will always seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.  (cf. Matt. 6:33)

WADE BASKIN

Wade Marshall Baskin is a 2012 graduate of Shawnee High School.  He is the son of Pam Baskin and brother to Courtney Baskin.  Grandparents are the late Wilford Terry and June and Bernard Sharp.

Wade attended Shawnee Public School for twelve years.  He was in the gifted and talented classes, participated in Little Olympics, listed on the Honor Roll, received an award for drawing the design for Outdoor Science Camp and attended concurrent college classes.  Wade played soccer fourth and fifth grades, softball since seventh grade and ran cross country and track in high school, where he won numerous medals.  The past two years, he has participated in a leadership class where the students deliver Meals on Wheels and help at the elementary and early childhood schools.

At his years at Central, Wade has attended Burnt Cabin Christian Camp and LTC for ten years, helped with VBS, Bible Hour and reading, the coat drive and traveled to Muskogee and Missouri to help with storm cleanups.

Wade’s plan after graduation is to attend the University of Oklahoma and get his degree as a general surgeon.

GOSPEL MEETING

A gospel meeting will be held at the McLoud Church of Christ, June 3 – 6, with B. J. Clarke from Memphis, Tennessee.  Evening services will be at 7.  Further information is posted on the bulletin board in the foyer.

Youth News
Nathan Kelly

The mystery trip is already going to be moved.  I want as many to go that can and it was short notice.  So, I want people to look at their June 30th calendars.  It will be a great time for the new members of the youth group to get involved.  I hope this works for everyone, if it doesn’t let me know.

“THE GENTLE GARDENER”

I’d like to sow the barren spots

with all the flowers of earth,

To leave a path where those who come

should find but gentle mirth;

And when at last I’m called upon

to join the heavenly throng

I’d like to feel along my way

I’d left no sign of wrong.
