Playwright Oscar Wilde had a great definition for a New Year’s Resolution as something that goes “in one year and out the other.” In fact, statistics show that for everyone who make New Year’s resolutions, a staggering 97% fail to carry them out completely. But the fact is that for people who take the time to carefully set goals are ten times more likely to attain them than those who make spur-of-the-moment promises to themselves.
Well in 2013 why not ask the Lord to strengthen you with His might (Ephesians 3:16) to grow in obedience to Him? Here are seven critical areas where Christians should resolve to grow:
1. Ask the Lord to help you grow in your walk with Christ this year.
2. Ask the Lord to help you read through the Bible in 2013.
3. Ask the Lord to help you spend significant time in prayer daily. We have plenty of time for leisure activities, don’t we? We have time for prayer!
4. Ask the Lord to help you commit to attending Sunday and Wednesday worship services on a regular basis.
5. Ask the Lord to help give you more opportunities to serve Him this year.
6. Ask the Lord to help you be faithful in giving this year.
7. Ask the Lord to help you be faithful to regularly share the gospel.
As we go into 2013 let us reflect on lessons learned, remember our challenges and rejoice in our blessings. Those moments are gifts from God. Moments to grow us, to help us become who God created us to be, to live the lives He intends for us. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20 NIV)

A New Year,
A New Beginning
The old year ends, a new begins
With pages clean and new;
And what is written on each page
Will now depend on you.
You can’t relive the year that’s past,
Erasing every wrong;
For once a year, or day, is spent,
It is forever gone.
But don’t give up in dark despair
If you have failed some test;
Seek God’s forgiveness and resolve
Henceforth to do your best.
You know not where your path may lead
Nor what’s beyond the hill;
But know that God walks at your side,
If you will do His will.
All things are possible with God,
Though days be bright or dim;
So do your best and know that you
Can leave the rest to Him.
We extend our love and sympathy to June Sharp in the loss of her brother, Bill Long, on December 19. Services were held in Paso Robles, CA.
To the best of our knowledge we have no Central member in the hospital at this time.
Please continue your prayers in behalf of Chad Beard. Chad is still experiencing a lot of discomfort from his last surgery and has been having a lot of headaches also.
