REQUESTING PRAYERS

Winona Seikel made a special request for prayers this past Sunday morning that she may be more aware of opportunities to speak to others about Christ and the salvation he brought to humanity.  She said she doesn’t want to hear the words of the song “You Never Mentioned Him to Me.”  It’s a sobering thought that we should all be taking more seriously.  We love Winona for her faith and compassion.  We pray that she will find the encouragement and strength she needs to be growing stronger and reaching out to others each day.

PRAYER CONCERNS

To the best of our knowledge we have no Central member in the hospitals at this time.

Mariella Jacobs was moved to Bradford Village for rehabilitation this week after spending several days in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Jennifer Michener has requested prayers in behalf of the 12 year old son of the preacher in Ava, Missouri (Jennifer’s home town). He has been diagnosed with spinal meningitis.

It has been great to have Bob Allen feeling better and in services again.

Youth News
Nathan Kelly

Well the weekend was interesting.  Laser Zone was great.  We had 13 kids come which made for a full van when Kylee and myself were included.  It was a lot of fun.  Plenty of things to do and it was such a good price.  Unfortunately, Sunday and Monday brought us back to reality.  All these storms were simply incredible.  Kylee and I got to see a little bit of Sunday’s damage as we tried to detour our way around it to get home.  It’s shocking to say the least.  I can’t get over the power that is behind these tornados.  So, after a great day with the youth group, we were shown how little we are in control of our life.  It’s humbling, and something that we needed.  We’ve got a lot of work to do now.  It goes along with one of our future lessons in class.  Proverbs 31:9, “Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”  I can’t promise they’re poor, but Oklahoma is full of the “needy” right now.  So let’s get out and find a way to help.  Challenge accepted!

DISCOVER THE IRON

If one should give me a dish of sand and tell me there were particles of iron in it, I might look for them with my eyes and search for them with my clumsy fingers and be unable to detect them.  But let me take a magnet and sweep through it, the magnet would draw to itself the almost invisible particles by the mere power of attraction.

The unthankful heart, like my fingers in the sand, discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find in every hour, some heavenly blessings …The iron in God’s sand is gold!                                   - Henry Ward Beecher
