GREAT FULL TO GO
By Jimmy Hyde

Hello Central Church family. I’m here, and so excited to begin my work with you. I have deeply enjoyed getting to know you. I look forward to getting to know all of you. My family and I are still working on selling our home. Keep praying for God’s blessings there. The plan right now is for me to be here Sunday through Thursday. I will be traveling back to Bartlesville on the weekends to see my wife and girls. I want to express my gratitude to all of you for your love and support while we transition. I also want to thank the McKnight’s for opening up their apartment for me. I truly feel loved and appreciated. Thank you so much for all you’ve done.

Looking for the Best When You Invest

So be honest, how many of you when you buy milk look for the latest expiration date you can find? Why do we do that, because we want to get the most for our money.  We only have so much money and we must invest that money wisely in order to provide for our every need. Our time is also something we must invest wisely. We only have so much time and we must choose wisely where to invest our time. Let me encourage us to look for those opportunities to invest our time in doing God’s work. Remember this important passage;   “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  NIV - Ephesians 2:10

My Goal and Aim

First, I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you. I can hardly wait to get my family here so we can settle in and spend some time getting to know our new church family. I’m sure it will take some time. While my family and I are getting to know you my second focus will be to seek God’s wisdom and understanding, concerning what our needs are here at Central. We all want to grow and improve in our Christian walk and as a church family. Please pray for God’s blessings on me as I look to discover God’s plan for this congregation. I’m reminded of this great passage:  “If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.”  NIV - Philippians l 2:1-2

May God bless us as we work to unite in spirit and purpose while we do God’s work here in Shawnee and everywhere else he calls us.

Youth News
Nathan Kelly

If you weren't paying attention during announcements on Sunday, then let me remind you that VBS will soon be here. It will be very soon. Lots of help will be needed, both young and old...well not too young. I will need the help and involvement of every member of the youth group I can get. We've always been really good about getting involved and helping, and this year we need just as much, if not more, involvement. Drama and puppets are the biggest concern I can think of. So show up early and get involved. Let me remind you that the more fun you have, the more fun the kids will have. Set the example for them.

On a spiritual note, on Sunday we talked about whether Jesus is just the one of many in our lives or the one and only. My favorite illustration that I found for it was to picture a race with all those that you love competing for first. You'll have friends and family in the race, of course. I hope you remembered to put Jesus in the race too. If not then I know you put Him there now. When I asked the teens who won, it was obviously Jesus. There's no question. That's not the results Jesus wants though. Where we made it a competition for Jesus to win, He wants there to be no competition. On that race track, He wants to find himself alone, running for your love. This week, I want to remind you to make Jesus the One and Only in your life.

“HELP ME NOT FEAR”

Father, dear Father, help me not fear,

For you are my shield and great reward.

Father, dear Father, help me not fear,

Through briars and thorns are all around.

With you I stand firm. The battle is yours.
