GREAT FULL TO GOD

By Jimmy Hyde

Well, first and foremost we need to praise God for so richly blessing us here at Central. We had a great VBS this past week. We currently, as I write this article, have no one in the hospital. There are some people new to the area who have visited us and we are in contact with them. And I’m sure there’s much more being done that I’m not aware of. Our God is good. Keep praying for God’s will to be done with the selling of my home in Bartlesville. God knows best.

The Beginning of the End

Well are you ready for summer to be over? August will be here soon and temperatures will begin to cool, our kids will begin school again, and we can look forward to the blessings of fall. I want to encourage all of you to be praying especially for our families with kids going back to school. This is a busy time for kids and parents filled with anxiety, excitement, and school supply shopping. Pray that God will bless our families as they prepare for school.

Is Your Mind Prepared?

There are so many people struggling and suffering from the effects of sin in their lives today. Some may be hurting even in our own church family here at Central. May we be ready to share that holy healing we experience when we turn to God. Remember 1 Peter 1:13-16 “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.  As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.  But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

Let’s ready ourselves and prepare our minds for action so that when we come across people in need we can act. Remember Luke 5:31

THANK YOU

We are so blessed to have Central for our Church family.  Thank you for your prayers, calls, visits, food and the get well cards.  Thank you to our children also.  We love you all.  Boyd & Joann Cheney

Dear Central Family, I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to our family following the tornado that hit our neighborhood May 20th.  My daughters, April, Jennifer, and I rode out the tornado in our bathtub while the house shook and debris hit every part of our house,.  We praised God when we realized our house was still standing and we were all physically okay.  I had taken Jennifer out of her third grade class at Briarwood Elementary just twenty minutes before the school was destroyed.   The houses at the end of our street were completely destroyed also.  Even though our house is livable, we still have lots of repairs to do from the effects of our home and property going through an EF5.  And we also intend to 'pay it forward' to others who were less fortunate.  Again, thank you for your generosity which will help us to do that.  God bless you and please continue your prayers for all the storm victims.  Love, Sherrie & Mark Horton, April & Jennifer (children & grand-children of Dwyane & Marcia Dennis)

Youth News
Nathan Kelly

Camp is over, VBS is over, and sadly summer is almost over. But we still have some events. Last reminder about the float trip on July 28-29. Some of you might not read this until the 28th, but its not to late. WE can and will take anyone old enough to be in the youth group as long as we haven't left yet. The more people we have the cheaper it will be. Also we have the lock in on August 2nd in Bixby. We are trying to get as many people from camp to make it. I know how hard it is to keep those friendships going when you only get to really see each other once a year. Hopefully this will help.

Now, for my more serious thought, as I was sitting in worship Sunday night listening to Jimmy talk about temptation, I started to watch this boy near me. He was around kindergarten/1st grade age and he was doing normal kid stuff during worship, for the most part, but then he grabbed the Bible in front of him and started to turn to the scripture Jimmy referenced. He had to use the index to find the book but he searched for it. He also took down one note for the lesson. "Did Jesus want to turn the rocks into bread?" Not long after he was back to doing normal kid stuff, but for those few minutes he was listening and understanding the Word. He got it. It was so inspiring to watch that I couldn't help but get a little distracted from Jimmy and watch it all play out (Sorry Jimmy). Kids are truly inspiring. When you don't think they hear or understand you, they sometimes surprise you. Even when you're not talking to them, they are still there and they are sometimes listening and learning.
